The timing and frequency of blood glucose monitoring

According to the different time of blood glucose monitoring, it can be divided into fasting blood glucose, preprandial blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial blood glucose, random blood glucose, etc. The blood glucose detected at different times has different clinical significance.

2. Fasting blood sugar: refers to the blood sugar value measured by fasting for more than 8 hours overnight and before breakfast. The blood sugar measured before lunch and dinner cannot be called fasting blood sugar. Preprandial blood sugar: Refers to the blood sugar level measured before breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 2-hour postprandial blood glucose: refers to the blood glucose level measured 2 hours after breakfast, after lunch, and 2 hours after dinner. Random blood sugar: Refers to the blood sugar value measured at any other time of the day, such as blood sugar before bedtime, midnight blood sugar, etc. As for each diabetic patient, the appropriate time and frequency of blood sugar testing should be discussed with the doctor first, and should be reasonably arranged according to the condition as much as possible.
